Happy Canadian Thanksgiving!
This past Thanksgiving weekend was a good one. We were excited to have Stephen's parents, Gerry and Debbie come and visit Calgary for Thanksgiving (last year for Thanksgiving, we went to Ottawa to see them).
We picked them up from the airport Saturday. They had spent part of Friday and Saturday morning in Edmonton visiting with some of the soldiers who had worked and roomed with Jason in Afghanistan and then flew into Calgary on Saturday to see us. We took them from the airport to their hotel (the Fairmont Palliser in downtown Calgary - a beautiful old hotel) where we relaxed for awhile and toasted their arrival. From there we went out for a late supper on Stephen Avenue downtown.

The next morning we went to The Military Museums in Calgary where we met up with another soldier and his wife who had worked closely with Jason in Afghanistan. We did a quick tour of the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI) portion of the museum to see the memorial for Jason and take some pictures.

After the museum we went for lunch and then went back to our place to relax for the afternoon. It was a gorgeous sunny day and we spent most of the afternoon on the patio in the warm sun.
That night we took Gerry and Debbie to Smugglers Inn for some juicy melt-in-your-mouth Alberta prime rib. We had taken them there last time they were in Calgary and we wanted to go back. It was SOOOO good!

After we had satisfied (stuffed) ourselves on their salad bar and the incredible portions of beef, we felt the need to walk some of it off and went back downtown near their hotel to wander down Stephen Avenue. We stopped at Flames Central to look around and watched part of the football game on the enormous screen. Then we continued our sightseeing. We didn't walk for too long, we had to be up early to take them to the airport for their flight home. It was a short weekend trip but we enjoyed having them!
